Amy was born and raised in Elgin County. She received her B.A. in Political Science in 1996 and her law degree in 1999, both from the University of Western Ontario. Amy, while at law school, worked at Gunn & Associates.

Amy articled at Gunn & Associates in 1999 and joined the firm as an associate in 2001 following her call to the bar. Her practice focuses on civil litigation, including estates and insurance defence litigation, regulatory and municipal law and real estate with some work in the area of wills and estates.

Amy sits on the Board of Directors for the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital, the Agricultural Credit Corporation and the YWCA St. Thomas-Elgin.  Amy is a past Director of the Elgin St. Thomas Community Foundation a pianist, choir director and runner. Amy resides in the Municipality of Central Elgin with her husband, Mike and son, Evan.
